Back in 2014, I was working as a Senior Game Designer at WitchLake Studio in Peseux (NE), Switzerland. The company operated as two distinct divisions: WitchLake Business, which focused on developing software for managing invoices, campaigns, memberships, and more, and WitchLake Studio, which specialized in entertainment, video games, and serious games.
Our vision was to unite these two divisions into a single cohesive entity. To support this transformation and communicate our mission, we created a promotional video that showcased the strengths of both sides of the company and the potential of their integration.
We were a small but incredibly talented team of artists working on this project, and my responsibilities included the visual identity, animations, interface design, and video editing. Bringing the entire city and its growing buildings to life through animation was a challenging but highly rewarding experience once it all came together :)
Stéphane Donnet, the head of WitchLake, envisioned a visual style reminiscent of an IKEA manual. To achieve this, we incorporated plenty of small details, such as numbers, notes, fake prices, and little jokes, adding a playful and unique touch to the design. The animation was created using Adobe Flash (now Adobe Animate), while the editing was completed with Adobe Premiere Pro.
Fun fact: Investors had a good laugh during the promotional video, when the sales revenue turned green, and the growth chart shot through the roof.
Unfortunately, as explained on the dedicated WitchLake page, that video was never publicly released. WitchLake Business and WitchLake Studio never merged; they remained separate entities until WitchLake Studio shut down and WitchLake Business rebranded as Echino.
