BACKSTORY

In 2005, Ugur 'tomsamson' Ister from Stimunation reached out to me to handle the visual side of Eternal Bubbles, a puzzle game paying tribute to Bust-a-Move (also known as Puzzle Bobble in Japan).

Bust-a-Move is a match-3 bubble shooter where players aim and shoot colored bubbles onto a playfield. Matching three or more bubbles of the same color makes them pop, clearing the board. The goal is to eliminate all bubbles before they reach the bottom, while new rows periodically push downward. Strategic aiming, ricocheting shots off walls, and planning ahead are key to success.

Tomsamson wanted the game to be designed in pixel art, so I used Adobe ImageReady to create and animate the characters, backgrounds, and various screens. To streamline the workload, Claude 'yota' Tachnakian joined me on the project, and we divided the tasks between us.

Fun fact: Each stage was designed in two versions - a standard one and an altered version with a more unsettling and desolate atmosphere, adding a unique twist to the game's visuals.
